Many of you may not be familiar with this artist, but i love her. she is now on youtube and currently singing her heart away with covers and original songs. Many producers have discovered her and she just seems to be a diamond in the rough.
This song that she wrote really touched me and is my new favorite song. She talks about how girls get teased by boys, and are mistreated by them. I get it sometimes too, and its annoying. Its annoying to think that i have to go through this CRAP. But her positive side of the message is basically saying to just shake it off, it's just whatever.
We all really need to realize that sometimes, why do we make such a big deal out of the stupidest things. We need to stick up for our selves. Cause yeah, boys and men in general can be a pain and we can too!
Thanks tiffany for showing me that you experience something that has been bugging me also, so girls if you get bugged like this or annoyed, shake it off its just whatever!
Love,
Natalie

Just the Way You Are- Bruno Mars
I LOVE THIS SONG!!! My dad even likes this song, and thats saying something here! This song really speaks to me in a good way. Bruno Mars i think is such a talented writer and singer. I mean some of the notes this guy hits? UH-MAZING.
So i was just listening to this the other day and I couldn't wait to write up on it. This song can be displayed in two word TRUE LOVE. These two words can be broken down also. The definition of true is trustworthy and always there for someone but at the same time never lying, always right. And love is easy, everyone experiences love in whether its an animal or a human. We all have that kind of feeling that tugs at our hearts. Love meaning we want to be with this person forever, and we cant stop thinking about them and we truly care about this person.
Well enough about going off about these true words now the song. Bruno was very smart in writing this song cause i can bet you 10$ that there are millions of girls in the world blaring this in the car or there rooms and screaming the lyrics out . I can also see a few boyfriends saying that this song was for their girlfriends (my friend has gotten that). He really knew what he was saying when he wrote this song because every single time i listen to it i'm wanting a boy to say it to me. :)
He's stating his true love to this girl, and telling her you honestly don't need what the world tells you to look like in order for me to love you. The world constantly throws things at us that make us want to change our ways. I know for one that i go along with what it says and take it and make it happen to me. Truthfully, the world turns us into brats and makes us seem like we know everything. And we don't, Bruno trys to tell all the girls in the world through this song. You may think he's singing about one special someone but i have a feeling this message is going out to all of us, even the guys out there.
Boys: Don't act like your cool, girls like sensitive guys and when your all "cool" it sucks...
Girls: Your so pretty so put only a little makeup and make sure you smile, cause im sure you can pass in anything...
Love,
Natalie

Love the Way You Lie- by Eminem
This song is a true love song. Eminems rapping in the verses may seem just kind of like a story but looking "behind the meaning of the lyrics" will really show you what he's saying.
It's almost like a story of how much she hurts him and lies to his face but his love for her is still strong. She's "the girl" if you know what I mean. Everyone finds that one true someone and they think, "Oh my gosh, i don't care what she or he does to me this is the person i love." Well, you may be thinking, "Um this is eminem the rapper." and yeah, it is.
Sometimes writers write rap songs because its a lot easier to write what they feel into a song. My friend once told me that rapping was just poetry written in anger. :) Which actually seems quite true.
This song is really talking about the battle you have in your love life, the ups and down you go through. Its like a roller coaster ride, and sometimes it never ends. But usually when the word "love" is used everything is worth it.
I just wanted to bring up a funny scenario that pretty much reminds me of this song. When you ever meet a man who has been married for a few years he is always saying how much control his wife has over him. Everyone thinks its the man of the house! In the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" a line was quoted, "The man is the head of the house, but the women is the neck, and she can control the head to wherever she wants it to go." This quote just makes me laugh out loud, i love the fact that in this song Eminem is kind of stating that he's getting dragged around by this girl but he's sticking through with it.
Now i usually have a lesson learned in every song and the lesson in this one is, sometimes we need to stick up for ourselves even in love situations. When we finally or have met the girl or guy of our dreams that we know we will spend the rest of our lives with, treat them as your best friend. Don't treat them as an object just to be used as a device for pleasure or company when your bored, there your soul mate.
So when you find "the one" make sure its the right one...

21 Guns- by Green Day
So...a good friend of mine gave me the idea of this song. I looked through the lyrics a few times and then over again. The meaning of this song? Well, truthfully a lot of people could look at it and think, "Oh, he's talking about this girl he really loves." or "He's talking about himself in third person."
Truthfully, I haven't been able to find the meaning behind these lyrics. I felt that I have failed but i really can't. So what I'm going to do is take the song and put it into what I think Green Day is trying to get through.
In the beginning of this song he starts off with asking questions directed to a certain someone. These questions are very deep though and makes you think right from the beginning that its not gonna be the happiest song. Green Day seems to like to draw a detailed picture in your mind, by giving you these bigger words in your head. Its almost as if they are painting a picture.
In the chorus of this song the meaning and the message comes through. He's talking about basically surrendering almost from this battle that you've been fighting all your life. You can almost think of it as a drug or some type of nagging thats going on in ones body that has been taking over your life.
I'm sorry that I don't have much more to say about this song since i don't know it very well...
Next time you go through the sort of pain where everything seems to just be falling all around you write a song or just some type of lyrics to get the words you've wanted to say out of your mouth...
Love,
Natalie

Lyrics:
Do you know what's worth fighting for?
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins
One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky, you and I
When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins
One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky, you and I
Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone?
When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins
One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight

Teenage Dream- by Katy Perry
I am actually really excited to figure out the "Behind the Meaning of the Lyrics" on this one. I love this song, right from the moment that I listened to it I was obsessed.
I was recently at a dance for my school, most of the songs being played were ghetto and honestly I had no fun listening to them. Then, randomly out of the blue, this song came on and an immediate reaction occurred. High schoolers started screaming the lyrics on the top of their lungs and laughed while jumping and dancing to this awesome beat that Katie is giving us.
Katie Perry in general has always seemed like the wild type. Daring, and not afraid to take chances. When most artists write there songs you usually see their personality shown through what they are trying to say or the experiences that have happened. Through most of Katie Perry's songs she's talking about love and reaching out to the teenage girl community. Me, being one of them, can really jump into her lyrics and find an escape.
The negative part about these lyrics is kind of the fact that she's mostly relating a relationship to sex, especially a teenage relationship. As you listen to the song she says some lyrics to make them sound like fun and bubbly. The meaning behind it all is she's relating her "young adult" relationship to a teenage relationship by saying that they are going to go "all the way" tonight. In a way i feel somewhat offended that she would think all teens take boyfriends/girlfriends and decide to lose their virginity.
The christian community is full of young teenagers, and when we (from experience) hear this it sometimes makes us get the wrong idea. I'm not speaking for everyone but sometimes I feel the need to change my ways and go against God by doing stupid things that celebrities say in their songs. Of course, I'm never going to do that. But then again, i think of some of the people that have heard songs like this and thought that losing your virginity before marriage is ok, and its not. I have given her music video of the song below, and its not the best music video. Its very inappropriate and i haven't watched the whole thing myself.
So remember that there is a man right next to you watching every single move you make. Would you do everything you did in front of him?
Love,
Natalie

Before he Cheats- by Carrie Underwood
Before I start of with this song I just think I should tell you ... NEVER EVER EVER fall into something without knowing what your getting into.
Which brings me to this song, "Oh pretty carrie underwood in this cute music video talking about her prince charming who basically left her stranded while having affairs with other women." That...that right there is what I think most people think when they listen to this song.
Sure, you got the main structure of it, but do you know the meaning or even the hurt and pain she wrote into this song? Maybe its made up, we never know the true story behind it. But she puts us in a position where all we can see is a picture of her "husband" with this other woman, and basically showing no fear for what his "wife" would think.
Carrie is the type of writer who puts us in the position or the meaning of the story line. She makes us feel like we are right there next to her experiencing what she is telling. This, makes her the amazing artist she is today. But sometimes do we realize where most artists get their inspiration from? ....Themselves.
So, lets say this song were true, Carrie went through this personally? Yeah, I guess. One thing about the song is though, that we can all take it and say, "Wow, Carrie is famous, I'm not. My husband/boyfriend was cheating on me. what do i do? " Now that is the stupid response. I'm not saying listen to the song and don't rejoice along with it, I mean i love this song. Its great! But sometimes, we all need to realize the crap (yes i said crap) that is out there in our world. How much sin has overtaken us to do stupid things like cheating.
So think next time you cheat.....

Back to December- by Taylor Swift
This new recent song that Taylor has written has touched the hearts of many young teenage girls, some that have wanted to say an apology themselves to a loved one that they basically just left in the dust, and some just love Taylor's sharing of her personal life.
I, for one, am one of those girls. I love Taylor's music that she shares about personal stories in her life and heartbreaks that she has experienced. This song especially shows the regret and sympathy that Taylor has on this guy. Most magazines say the main focus on this song is Taylor Lautner, which Taylor Swift dated for a short amount of time. If you listen to these lyrics closely and really take in what she is saying that you will notice that its him.
Of course I'm a teenage girl, and these things i just love hearing about love and other experiences that people go through. But, this song kind of teaches me a lesson. Sometimes, we never really notice what's in front of our eyes and we never take in what has really been showed to us.
So when your listening to this song, don't just think of all the fun lyrics that your dancing to. Think about how personal this is to her, and don't make the mistake yourself. :)
Thanks for reading, more to come soon!
